Hello everyone!  You are now on Mrs. Daniela Schmidt’s Webpage!!!

We had a wonderful week during Catholic Schools Week 2012.  The Shea’s representative kicked off the week with a great exercise in expression.   We finished the week with bowling.  I can safely say we all had great memories of being in a catholic school.

Thirty-six students in grades 6, 7, and 8th were selected by the Creative Communication to published for their fall book.  Congratulations to all who were selected.

I am a Canisius College graduate with a degree in Secondary Education.  I received a Bachelor of Arts  in English Education with a minor in  History.  My first time in the classroom was at Canisius High School where I taught 9th, 10th, and 11th grade  regents and 12th grade English honors  as a student teacher.  My next experience was at Williamsville South  teaching the same subjects. I have taught at a number of schools throughout my career including  schools in Geneva, New York. I was born in Trieste, Italy and speak fluent Italian.  I have also studied Italian, French, German, and know quite a bit of Spanish.  I taught French for five years, Social Studies for thirteen years along with Language Arts and Reading for over twenty years.  This is my thirty-first year of teaching, and I still enjoy it very much.  I love being with the children and seeing their eyes sparkle when they understand what I am teaching them.  I try to make learning a fun experience for them because language arts can be a bit dry.  We do a lot of diagramming at the board to improve their grammar skills.  I have been doing a theme program for over twenty years which enables the children to become very good writers.  In Reading, I try to choose books that are classic as well as books that they can relate to as young adults.  You may stop by and see the fantastic work my students are doing!!!
